Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a current lead capable of suppressing Joule heating of a bypass conductor even when quenching of a superconductor has occurred.SOLUTION: According to an embodiment, in a current lead 1, a superconductive tape wire 10 is a component that has a tape shape and includes a superconductive layer 17 made of a superconductor. A bypass conductor 22 is a conductor that extends parallel to a lengthwise direction of the superconductive tape wire 10 and is electrically connected with the superconductive layer 17 through coupling to one surface 10a of the superconductive tape wire 10, and is capable of causing a current to flow by bypassing the superconductive layer. The bypass current flows through the bypass conductor 22 by bypassing only a region 17c, in which quenching has occurred, of the superconductor layer 17.
