Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an articulation joint, with decreased loss of torque transmission due to drive cables, for surgical apparatus, devices, and/or systems.SOLUTION: There is provided an endoscopic surgical device which includes an endoscopic anchor retaining/advancing assembly 130. The endoscopic anchor retaining/advancing assembly 130 comprises: a proximal tube portion 130a and a distal tube portion 130b pivotably connected to one another at an articulation joint 150; a proximal inner shaft 138a rotatably disposed within the proximal tube portion, the proximal inner shaft 138a being relatively rigid and mechanically connected to the drive mechanism such that actuation of the trigger results in rotation of the proximal inner shaft 138a; a distal inner shaft 138b rotatably disposed within the distal tube portion, the distal inner shaft 138b being relatively rigid; and a relatively flexible intermediate drive cable 138c mechanically interconnecting the proximal inner shaft and the distal inner shaft, the intermediate drive cable 138c extending from and between the proximal tube portion and the distal tube portion, across the articulation joint.
