Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a peening device which eliminates the possibility that a striking force adding member is left in a plant as a residue, and makes a peening portion compact.SOLUTION: A peening device has a chamber 2; a plurality of peening rods 4; a nozzle 6; and a high-pressure pump. The nozzle 6 is provided at a sealed end portion of the chamber 2. The plurality of peening rods (impact force adding members) 4 is disposed in the chamber 2, and one end portion of each peening rod 4 is attached to a side wall inner surface of the chamber 2. High pressure water supplied from the high pressure pump is jetted from the nozzle 6 into the chamber 2 to vibrate each peening rod 4. A tip end portion of each vibrated peening rod 4 repeatedly strikes a peening surface of a core shroud 10. By this striking, compressive residual stress is added to the peening surface.
