Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for improving uneven thickness, defective adhesion or the like generated due to uneven coating of a primer layer in an elastic roller having a cylindrical base body, the primer layer and a silicone rubber elastic layer.SOLUTION: Elastic rollers having no defect in primer coating are manufactured with high mass productivity by successively advancing a step [1] for spirally coating primer on a cylindrical base body from a longitudinal one-side end part, a first smoothing step [2] for smoothing the primer from a direction of the same longitudinal one-side end part as the step [1] and a second smoothing step [3] for smoothing the primer from a direction of a longitudinal one-side end part which is the opposite side to that of the first step [1].
