PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable terminal device capable of reducing time and labor of cancelling a lock.SOLUTION: A portable terminal device 100 includes: a monitor 440; a light source 430 for illuminating the monitor 440; a storage section 410 for storing a lighting time 411 of the light source 430; a control section 420 for controlling brightness of the light source; and an operation section 400 for accepting an operation to the portable terminal device 100. The control section 420 sets the brightness of the light source 430 to a frist brightness value according to the operation. When the operation is not carried out for a certain period of time, the control section 420 sets the brightness of the light source to a second brightness value which is lower than the first brightness value. When the frequency of the operation carried out during the certain time period is more than a prescribed frequency, the control section 420 prolongs the lighting time 411 for a prescribed time or for a time corresponding to the frequency of the operation. When the operation is not carried out during the lighting time 411 after the brightness value of the light source 430 is set to the second brightness value, the control section turns off the light source 430.
