Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To preferably dissolve the deterioration in a detection capacity due to ash deposition in an electric resistance type PM sensor.SOLUTION: A heater (44) generates heat by electric conduction so as to heat a detector (41). The heater (44) is controlled by a control unit (30). If a specified processing-time resistance (an electric resistance of the detector at a time when a specified processing-time arrives) is higher than a reference value, the control unit sets heater electrification conditions that include a heater temperature in a first condition of removing ash deposited on the detector. On the other hand, if the specified processing time resistance is the reference value or less, the control unit sets the heater electrification conditions in a second condition of not removing the ash.
