Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrochemical cell having an increased volumetric energy density, less prone to repeated bending or folding operations, and less sensitive to the repetition of bending or folding operations.SOLUTION: The present invention relates to an electrochemical cell includes a negative electrode (20) in contact with a negative electrode collector (16), a positive electrode (22) in contact with a positive electrode collector (18), and a separator (24) disposed between the negative electrode (20) and the positive electrode (22), while the negative electrode (20) is disposed between the separator (24) and the negative electrode collector (16), and the positive electrode (22) is disposed between the separator (24) and the positive electrode collector (18). The negative electrode collector (16) and the positive electrode collector (18) form an encapsulating housing (28) for the negative electrode (20), the positive electrode (22) and the separator (24).
