Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermoacoustic device and a thermoacoustic device array, which particularly use a carbon nanotube.SOLUTION: A thermoacoustic device 10 includes a substrate 100 and a sound wave generation unit. The substrate includes facing first and second surfaces and is composed of silicon. The sound wave generation unit includes a sound generation element 110, an insulating layer 120, a first electrode 106, and a second electrode 116. The sound wave generation element includes a carbon nanotube structure and is installed on the first surface of the substrate, insulated from the substrate. The at least one first electrode and the at least one second electrode are installed at intervals, and electrically connected to the sound wave generation element. The first surface includes a plurality of parallel recesses 102 at interval. A portion corresponding to the recess in the carbon nanotube structure is installed by suspension.
