Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a colored composition in a separated liquid state which is rapidly separated after mixing without forming an unclear interface or generating aggregates or the like on an interface.SOLUTION: A colored liquid is provided to be used for an optical modulation type device that modulates a color or brightness by moving or deforming a liquid by an external electric field. The colored liquid comprises a nonpolar solvent and a colorant, in which the colorant is a modified pigment including the following polymer (P) on a surface of a pigment (A). The polymer is obtained by polymerizing a resin (B) having a polar group, an alkyl group having 4 or more carbon atoms, and a siloxane bond with at least one kind of polymerizable unsaturated monomer (C) that is soluble in a non-aqueous solvent and changed into insoluble or hardly soluble after polymerization. The colored composition in a separated liquid state comprises the above colored liquid and a polar solvent that is immiscible with the colored liquid. |
