Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotational angle detector, a position detector, and a detection method of the detectors for performing rotational angle detection or position detection where temperature characteristics are good with a simple constitution without using complicated operation such as division and multiplication.SOLUTION: At least two or more physical quantity detecting elements for performing output proportional to both physical quantity and the element driving amount are used. A constitution where, according to rotation or movement of an object to be detected, a sine-wave-like physical quantity is applied to one element and a cosine-wave-like physical quantity is applied to the other element is used. The driving quantity of one physical quantity detecting element is driven in a sine-wave shape, and the driving quantity of the other physical quantity detecting element is driven in a cosine-wave shape. Thus, the obtained output from each physical quantity detecting elements is added to or subtracted from each other, a phase of the obtained output is detected, and rotational angle detection and position detection are performed.
