Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide granules for toothpaste which: exhibit a behavior where it stepwisely collapses as a weight is loaded; and enhances removing property for plaque or stain and usability.SOLUTION: The granules for toothpaste contain a water soluble inorganic binding agent comprising (A) a water insoluble powder material and (B) sodium silicate. By elevating down an indenter at a constant speed with a microcompression testing machine, the compressive load F is increased from 0 gf to a collapse load Fat which the granules collapse. When relationship between the compression displacement rate x and the compressive load F is determined, the granules for toothpaste have the following property: there are one or more smooth displacement regions P in which values of a ratio delta F/delta x (ratio of a change amount delta F in the compressive load F relative to a change amount delta x in the compression displacement rate x) are continuously within a range from 0 or more to 0.35 or less; the value of delta F/delta x is 6.0 or less until the value of delta F/delta x reaches the initial smooth displacement regions P; and the collapse load Fis 30 gf or less.
