Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accomplish an electromagnetic contactor which is stably operated not only in flyback line current electrification but also in track circuit signal current electrification.SOLUTION: In a double-throw/double-edged electromagnetic contactor 70, a main contact drive member 52 is rocked in a bidirectional manner in reaction to electromagnetic drive of a movable core 47 loosely engaged with the main contact drive member 52, such that two main contacts are opened/closed alternately and an attitude of the main contact drive member 52 is maintained by a resilient force of a contact holding elastic member 54. In the double-throw/double-edged electromagnetic contactor 70, weight reduction of the main contact drive member 52 is attained or the resilient force of the contact holding elastic member 54 is strengthened. In engaging parts 53, 48 between the main contact drive member 52 and the movable core 47, a non-magnetic clearance holding member 71 softer than both the member 52 and the core 47 is disposed. A pair of electromagnetic contactors 70 constitute rail insulation short-circuit units 70, 70 and a plurality of rail insulation short-circuit units 70, 70 are additionally provided in a location of existing rail insulation 14 or newly provided rail insulation 17, thereby constituting a track circuit switching system 80.
