PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ring-shaped heat insulation material in which its upper end and lower end workings can be easily carried out and having no possibility of occurrence of crack like a banana skin peeling.SOLUTION: This invention relates to a ring-shaped heat insulation material covering an outer periphery of a pipe under combination of many divided pieces 3 made of heat insulation material, each of the divided pieces 3 is divided into several segments in a peripheral direction, the upper and lower end surfaces of the pipe in an axial direction have protrusions 7. The protrusions 7 may be symmetrically arranged at the upper and lower portions of the divided piece 3 or may be unsymmetrically arranged at the upper and lower parts of the divided piece 3. In addition, the protrusions 7 can be made to have different heights at their upper and lower parts.
