PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operation device capable of improving its operability.SOLUTION: An operation device includes a capacitive sensor for detecting a capacitance change accompanying a touch of a user's finger to a touch pad 2, and a display 1 for displaying a screen where plural icons A-D are arranged. The operation device detects a touch position on the touch pad 2 on the basis of the amount of the capacitance change detected by the capacitive sensor, and obtains an input position on the screen from the detected touch position. The operation device determines which icon is selected on the basis of comparison between display ranges of the icons A-D on the screen and the input position, and executes processing according to the selected icon. When the display 1 displays a screen where four icons A-D are arranged, a possible range of an input position on the screen is limited to a limit range Rc that includes display ranges of all the icons A-D and is smaller than the whole range of the screen.
