Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bearing device for a steering column, which can apply pretension torque without adding an additional component to the bearing device and without adding a large change to components of a bearing.SOLUTION: At least one of an inner ring 2 and an outer ring 3 includes a casing 6 including an axial direction portion 6a and two radial direction portions 6b, 6c formed on end parts. A bearing device 1 includes two bearing elements 7, 8 attached in the casing 6 and forming a bearing route and at least one pretension element 9 formed by an elastic material and arranged between the radial direction portion 6c of the casing 6 and one bearing element 8 out of the bearing elements. The pretension element is attached in the casing of the outer ring in a frictional contact state with the inner ring to affect resistance torque when one of the inner ring and the outer ring is rotated relatively to the other.
