PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power control method of a broadcast program recording and reproducing device which can perform programmed video recording via a broadband transmission channel and also suppress power consumption of the device in a standby mode.SOLUTION: A broadcast program recording and reproducing device 100 comprises: HDMI power supply means 212 which supplies power to an HDMI interface 206; IEEE 1394 power supply means 213 which supplies power to an IEEE 1394 interface 207; HDMI connection detection means 215 which detects connection with a broadcast program receiving and displaying device 101; and IEEE 1394 connection detection means 217 which detects connection with a broadcast program receiving device 102. When the HDMI connection detection means 215 detects the connection, the HDMI power supply means 212 supplies power to the HDMI interface 206. When the IEEE 1394 connection detection means 217 detects the connection, the IEEE 1394 power supply means 213 supplies power to the IEEE 1394 interface.
