Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an α-fluoroacrylate ester capable of obtaining a high raw material conversion rate, high selectivity and a high yield.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for producing a compound represented by formula (1) [where, R represents an alkyl group which may be replaced by one or more fluorine atoms], the method including a step A of reacting a compound represented by the formula (2), an alcohol represented by formula (3) and carbon monoxide in the presence of a transition metal catalyst and a base to obtain a compound represented by the formula (1). [where, x represents a bromine atom or chlorine atom.] R-OH(3):(where, symbols in the formula represent the same meaning as above.] The transition metal catalyst is a palladium catalyst, the base includes an amine and an inorganic salt, and the reaction is carried out at 60 to 120°C.
