Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power transmission device capable of keeping a state of a second power transmission system in a wider engine rotating region, and further improving fuel consumption.SOLUTION: A power transmission device includes clutch means 3 capable of switching between a first power transmission system transmitting driving force of an engine to wheels through a torque converter 1, and a second power transmission system for transmitting the driving force of the engine to the wheels without through the torque converter 1, and a damper mechanism 7 disposed on the way of the second power transmission system, and constituted by dampers each having a spring characteristic to reduce torque fluctuation, thus the driving force of the engine can be arbitrarily selectively transmitted or blocked to the wheels. The power transmission device further includes a damper clutch 10 capable of arbitrarily switching the spring characteristic of the damper mechanism 7, and spring characteristic control means 14 operating the damper clutch 10 according to a running state of a vehicle to switch the spring characteristic according to the running state.
