Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for processing a formaldehyde-containing waste water capable of removing formaldehyde with a high removal rate without using ammonia.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for processing a formaldehyde-containing waste water in which a step of adding a sulfite to the formaldehyde-containing waste water and subjecting the resulting mixture to reverse osmosis membrane processing a plurality of times. There is provided a device for processing a formaldehyde-containing waste water in which processing means comprising an addition device for adding a sulfite and a reverse osmosis membrane processing apparatus which subjects water to which the sulfite has been added by the addition device to reverse osmosis membrane processing is installed in series. Sodium sulfite and/or sodium bisulfite are preferable as the sulfite.
