Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique capable of making a substrate smaller in a liquid level detector comprising a plurality of electrode pairs.SOLUTION: A liquid level detector 2 comprises: a substrate 12; a plurality of electrode pairs 14, 16 and the like that are arranged on the substrate 12 and different in capacitance variations relative to liquid level variations; and an arithmetic circuit 8 for obtaining liquid characteristic information associated with a relative permittivity, and, based on the obtained characteristic information, specifying a value associated with capacitance of one electrode pair of the plurality of electrode pairs 14, 16 and the like. Each of the plurality of electrode pairs 14, 16 and the like includes a reference electrode 16 that is in common with a different electrode pair of the plurality of electrode pairs 14, 16 and the like.
