Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for producing a vinylidene fluoride polymer, which can reduce adhesion of polymers, generated when polymerizing the vinylidene fluoride polymer, to a polymerization vessel such as a polymerization tank and decrease an amount of floating substances in discharged water generated by suspension polymerization, and thus can produce the vinylidene fluoride polymer with excellent productivity.SOLUTION: There is provided a process for producing a vinylidene fluoride polymer by dispersing and suspension-polymerizing monomers containing vinylidene fluoride as a main component in an aqueous medium containing a suspension agent. The suspension polymerization is performed in a presence of at least one polybasic carboxylic acid compound selected from polybasic carboxylic acids and polybasic carboxylic acid salts.
