Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a biological implant having strong and rapid binding affinity with a bone, and a method for manufacturing the same.SOLUTION: The biological implant 1 comprises: a substantial part 3 made of thermoplastic resin; a porous layer 4 having small-diameter pores 10 and large-diameter pores 20, the porous layer being arranged on the surface of the substantial part 3; and a biological active material 5 supported on the surface 4a of the porous layer 4 or the like. The large-diameter pores 20 include large-diameter communication pores 24 for communicating with the surface 4a of the porous layer 4 with an areal proportion of 60% or more in the entire porous layer 4 in an ink penetration test. The method for manufacturing the biological implant 1 includes performing the step of forming pores in the surface of the solid substrate 3 made of thermoplastic resin more than once. In the ink penetration test, the biological implant 1 immersed in an alcohol based red ink in large excess is irradiated with ultrasonic waves at a frequency of 38 kHz with an output of 200 W for 15 minutes, and the areal portion of the penetrated alcohol based red ink in the entire area of the porous layer 4 is calculated at an arbitrary cross section.
