Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a central processing unit with reduced power consumption.SOLUTION: A cache memory provided in a central processing unit includes: data fields that store data of a main storage device; tag fields that store management information of the data fields; and valid bits that store information showing whether the stored data in the data fields and the management information in the tag fields are valid or not. Memory cells that are components of the data fields, tag fields and valid bits are non volatile memory cells. A power supply control unit, which is provided in the central processing unit, selectively supplies power supply voltage to the data fields, tag fields, and valid bits only when access from an arithmetic unit included in the central processing unit to the cache memory has been performed.
