Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing an oxygen sensor which can be suitably used in diagnosing deterioration of a catalyst, with excellent responsiveness.SOLUTION: An oxygen sensor 1 comprises an oxygen sensor element 11 formed by coating both surfaces of a solid electrolyte 21 with Pt coatings as a pair of electrodes. The Pt coating 23 formed on at least a surface of the sides of the solid electrolyte 21 to be exposed to a gas to be measured, contains at least one metal of Mo, Ru, Nb and Rh at 0.01-0.5 percent by mass with respect to Pt.
