Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photosensitizing dye that can improve photoelectric conversion characteristics of a dye-sensitized solar cell and a dye-sensitized solar cell having the same.SOLUTION: A terpyridine Ru complex dye is obtained by reacting 4'-(3,4-dimethoxycarbonylphenyl)-2,2':6', 2"-4,4"-dimethoxycarbonyl terpyridine prepared by four processes including a reaction between 3,4-dimethylbenzaldehyde and 2-acetyl-4-methylpyridine with ruthenium (III) chloride n-hydrate to give a compound, which is treated with tetrabutylammonium thiocyanate.
