Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator apparatus which can give higher priority to a door closing command issued by an operation of a door closing button provided in a cage than to a detection signal of a noncontact door sensor, and can reliably prevent a passenger from being caught in an elevator door.SOLUTION: An elevator door 7 includes a detection sensor such as a multibeam door sensor 11 which detects foreign matters by a noncontact system. Additionally, a door closing button 18, and an attention calling means such as a vibration device 27, a buzzer 28 or an attention call lamp 29 are provided in a cage 2. When the door closing button 18 is operated by a passenger in a state that the multibeam door sensor 11 detects the foreign matter, an elevator control panel 10 drives the attention call means, and notifies the passenger who operates the door closing button 18 that the foreign matter is detected by the multibeam door sensor 11.
