Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide downsized optical connectors.SOLUTION: An optical connector comprises: a first housing 20 accommodating therein a first ferrule 25 fitted to a terminal of an optical fiber; a second housing 40 that can be fitted into the first housing 20; and a shutter 50 that is disposed in the first housing 20 and, when the first housing 20 and the second housing 40 are fitted to each other, is shifted from a closed position intercepting the first ferrule 25 from the front into an open position away from the front of the first ferrule 25 by being pressed by a hood part 41 of the second housing 40 to slide backward along a side wall of the housing body 21 in the first housing 20.
