Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance reliability of the gas exhaust valve of a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery.SOLUTION: A nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery includes an electrode wound body, a battery can for housing the electrode wound body, a battery upper lid for sealing the battery can, and a gas exhaust part attached to the battery upper lid. The battery upper lid includes a gas exhaust port, and the gas exhaust part projects from the battery upper lid toward the electrode wound body. The gas exhaust part has a reinforcement material and a gas exhaust valve. The battery upper lid and the gas exhaust part are formed integrally by the reinforcement material, and a groove is formed in the gas exhaust valve. The gas exhaust valve is formed in the battery can, and the cross-sectional area of the gas exhaust valve is larger than the opening area of the gas exhaust port.
