Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a contact device that quickly extinguishes arc generated when contacts are moved into and out of contact with each other.SOLUTION: A contact device includes a contact section, a sealing container 4, and a pair of permanent magnets 42. The contact section has: a pair of fixed terminals 1 that have respective fixed contacts 10; and a movable contactor 2 that is moved into and out of contact with the fixed contacts 10. The sealing container 4 hermetically seals the contact section. The permanent magnets 42 drive arc that is generated in the contact section, in a direction away from the contact section. First protrusions 92 (protruded sections) are provided on an inner wall of the sealing container 4 so as to face the contact section. Each first protrusion 92 has a tip end that faces the contact section and that is inclined so as to be at an acute angle to an arc driving direction.
