Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication device which can suppress an increase of load in a network.SOLUTION: A portable phone 1 comprises: a display unit 11; an operation unit 12; and a control unit 18 which searches for a base station when a state of the display unit 11 is changed from an off state to an on state due to an operation in the operation unit 12, and does not search for the base station when the state of the display unit 11 is changed from the off state to the on state without the operation in the operation unit 12. The control unit 18 performs control not to search for the base station when the state of the display unit 11 is changed from the off state to the on state due to notification of predetermined time on the basis of an alarm application without the operation in the operation unit 12.
