PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle headlight: attaining downsizing and simplicity of a structure; having a transmission mechanism which is moved to an axial direction of a turning shaft of a movable shade and has a drive portion; and having the movable shade held at a prescribed position with its position regulating face in contact with the drive portion.SOLUTION: A vehicle headlight is provided with: a light source 11b which emits light; a movable shade 25 which is turnably supported with a turning shaft 24 as a fulcrum between a first position where part of light emitted from the light source is shaded and a second position where an amount of shading is smaller than at the first position; a drive mechanism 16 which has an output shaft 19 and turns the movable shade by the movement of the output shaft to an axial direction; and a transmission mechanism 20 which has a drive portion 23 and is moved to the axial direction of the turning shaft accompanying the movement of the output shaft and transmits the drive force of the driving mechanism to the movable shade. Position-regulated faces 27a, 27c, 28a, 28c are formed in the movable shade, the drive portion is in contact with the position-regulated faces, and the movable shade is held at least at either the first position or the second position.
