Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an array probe capable of rapidly detecting a center part defect of round bar steel, especially, a center part defect in the size of 100 μm or more in √AREA.SOLUTION: An electronic scan type array probe is used for an immersion ultrasonic test for performing the detection and evaluation of a center part defect in round bar steel. A probe surface opposing to the round bar steel of the electronic scan type array probe has a curved surface that is for generating a point focus inside the round bar steel and circular arcuate respectively in an arrayal direction of vibrators on the probe surface and a direction vertical to the arrayal direction. A curvature radius Rx in the arrayal direction of the vibrators on the probe surface has relation where Rx= a radius d of a cross section of the round bar steel + a water distance L. A curvature radius Ry in the direction vertical to the arrayal direction of the vibrators on the probe surface has relation where Ry= a radius d of a cross section of the round bar steel × (sonic speed vin the round bar steel/sonic speed vin water) + a water distance L. |
