PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a copolymer, a rubber composition that includes the copolymer and a tire using the rubber composition, in which the copolymer improves workability in blending, molding or vulcanizing and is capable of upgrading wet grip performance, abrasion resistance and mechanical strength of the rubber composition in good balance when used as a part of the rubber composition.SOLUTION: There are provided a random copolymer containing a monomer unit (a) derived from an aromatic vinyl compound and a monomer unit (b) derived from farnesene; a method for producing the copolymer involving copolymerization of at least an aromatic vinyl compound and farnesene; a rubber composition containing a copolymer (A), a rubber component (B) and carbon black (C); a rubber composition containing the copolymer (A), the rubber component (B) and silica (D); a rubber composition containing the copolymer (A), the rubber component (B), carbon black (C) and silica (D); and a tire using at least in its part the rubber composition.
