Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optical communication system allowing for switching a wavelength and a path in use while maintaining time synchronization.SOLUTION: When changing a wavelength in use is necessary, an OLT 1 instructs an ONU2to change its wavelength and also notifies the ONU2of clock time it manages. After completion of change of the utilization wavelength in the ONU2, the OLT 1 performs processing of measuring a transmission delay time with the ONU2. The ONU2performs communication with the OLT 1 on the basis of clock time a first timer manages, and when it has received an instruction to change its wavelength in use, it changes setting of an optical transmitter/receiver such that the optical transmitter/receiver receives light with the designated wavelength or transmits light with the designated wavelength depending on whether the change instruction is for a downlink wavelength or an uplink wavelength, and also synchronizes a second timer to clock time which the OLT 1 notified the ONU2of, and performs processing of measuring the transmission delay time with the OLT 1 on the basis of clock time the second timer manages.
