Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily remove a sheath without requiring internal notches or tear cords and damaging optical fibers.SOLUTION: A slot type optical fiber cable 10 has a sheath 16 formed on an outer periphery of an assembly core 11 housing many optical fibers 14. The slot type optical fiber cable 10 has a plurality of V-shaped notches 17 for tearing the sheath, in a lengthwise direction of the sheath 16. The sheath 16 has a tensile strength of 10 to 25 MPa and a durometer hardness of 58 or less and satisfies relation D=2×(r1+t1)×sin( 1/2)≤13 mm where 1 represents an opening angle between segments connecting respective front ends of adjacent notches and a center of the cable, r1 represents a radius of the assembly core 11, t1 represents a sheath thickness to front ends of the notches, and D represents a length of segments connecting respective front ends of adjacent notches.
