Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively prevent a machine body from being excessively heated regardless of a position of an obstacle when the obstacle is placed in front of the machine body when a hot air heater is in use, which includes the machine body with an air outlet formed on a front surface and a suction port formed on a rear surface, a convection fan and a heat source arranged in a ventilation passage formed in the machine body and leading from the suction port to the air outlet, and heats indoor air sucked from the suction port into the ventilation passage by operation of the convection fan by the heat source for blowing out hot air from the air outlet.SOLUTION: A hot air heater includes: a first temperature detection means TH1 provided at a passage where hot air blowing out of an air outlet collides with an obstacle B located forward of a machine body 1, passes through a gap K between a bottom surface 14 and a floor surface F of the machine body, and flows back to a suction port 1b; and a control means C for determining whether the detected temperature of the first temperature detection means exceeds a predetermined first threshold value or not. The control means controls to reduce the heat generated by the heat source when the detected temperature of the first temperature detection means exceeds the first threshold value.
