Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controller of an in-barrel injection type engine which spark-advances the first injection as much as possible when fuel injection is executed several times in one cycle in the in-barrel injection type engine, and reduces an amount of fuel which is attached to a piston crown plane, and remains so as to suppress an increase of the number of PM exhaust particles.SOLUTION: A first injection timing is set based on at least a first injection pulse width of respective injections divided several times, and when the first injection pulse width of the divided ones is short, the injection timing of the first injection is spark-advanced more than when the first injection pulse width of the divided ones is long.
