Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaving support implement for a brittle rod-like member for easily obtaining a brittle rod-like member having an inclined end face at low cost.SOLUTION: A cleaving support implement (51) for a brittle rod-like member forms a groove (M) for cleaving in the peripheral surface (Gs) of the brittle rod-like member (G). The cleaving support implement (51) has a pair of tapered rollers (7a, 7b) and a discoidal cutting blade (5) so arranged as to enable three-point support of the rod-like member (G) in the peripheral direction, wherein the pair of tapered rollers (7a, 7b) are freely rotatable around respective rotation axes (CL7a, CL7b) which are inclined in such a way that they get away from the axis line (CLG) of the rod-like member (G) as proceeding to one end of the rod-like member (G) in a three-point supported state. The cutting blade (5) is freely rotatable around a rotation axis (CL5) which is inclined at a predetermined angle ( ) to the axis line (CLG) within a plane parallel to a plane including the axis line (CGL). When the rod-like member (G) in the three-point supported state is rotated, the groove (M) can be spirally formed in the peripheral surface (Gs) by the cutting blade (5) while the rod-like member (G) moves in the axis line (CLG) direction.
