Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new palladium catalyst capable of efficiently removing carbon monoxide (CO) and hydrocarbons (THC) in a fuel-rich atmosphere for purification, even when using palladium (Pd) as a catalytically active ingredient.SOLUTION: There is provided a palladium single layer catalyst for purifying the exhaust gas of saddle-riding type vehicles, provided in the exhaust gas channel of an internal combustion engine. The catalyst comprises a substrate, and a catalyst layer as a single layer containing palladium as a catalytically active ingredient, an inorganic porous body as a catalyst carrier, ceria (CeO) particles as a cocatalyst ingredient and barium.
