Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method that can appropriately manufacture a solar battery having a substrate formed of a semiconductor material where a texture structure is provided on one principal surface.SOLUTION: A substrate 20 formed of a semiconductor material is immersed into an alkaline etchant 21 and etched in a state that an electric field having a direction component separating from the substrate 20 is generated in a region on an other principal surface 20b of the substrate 20. A photoelectric converter 18 is produced using the etched substrate 10. First and second electrodes 14n and 15p are formed on the photoelectric converter 18.
