Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode group configuration capable of preventing short circuit without degrading the charge-discharge cycle life characteristics, in a cylindrical alkali storage battery.SOLUTION: The cylindrical alkali storage battery includes an electrode group formed by winding a strip positive electrode plate 1 and a negative electrode plate 2 with a separator interposed therebetween, an electrolyte, and a battery case 4 for encasing them. As the electrode group, a first separator 9 is disposed between the outer surface of the positive electrode plate 1 and the inner surface of the negative electrode plate 2, a second separator 10 is disposed between the inner surface of the positive electrode plate 1 and the outer surface of the negative electrode plate 2, and a third separator 11, having a liquid retention rate smaller than that of the first and second separators 9, 10, is disposed between the positive electrode plate 1 and the negative electrode plate 2 on the end-of-winding side of the electrode group. |
