Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that in a color display device, the resolution deteriorates because the number of pixels for each color per unit area decreases when adding a white (W) sub-pixel without increasing the number of wirings, in addition to red (R), green (G) and blue (B) sub-pixels.SOLUTION: The area and number of sub-pixels are adjusted according to visual sensitivity. Specifically, the areas of red (R) and blue (B) sub-pixels having relatively low visual sensitivity are made about twice as large as the areas of green (G) and white (W) sub-pixels having relatively high visual sensitivity, and the numbers of green (G) and white (W) sub-pixels are made about twice as many as the numbers of red (R) and blue (B) sub-pixels. The sub-pixels with a larger area comprise a plurality of unit sup-pixels, and smaller sub-pixels with a smaller area comprise a single unit sub-pixel.
