Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform and release an operation limit of a servo motor in a variety of situations.SOLUTION: A safety unit 10 comprises: a position determination part 32; a velocity determination part 38; an AND operation part 40; and a stop part 42. When a rotation amount (position data) of a rotating encoder 3 in conjunction with a rotating shift of a servo motor 2 is within a predetermined limit range, the position determination part 32 outputs a motor stop command to the AND operation part 40. When a rotation velocity of the rotating encoder 3 in conjunction with the rotating shift of the servo motor 2 is within a predetermined limit range, the velocity determination part 38 outputs the motor stop command to the AND operation part 40. The AND operation part 40 outputs a command to stop the servo motor 2 to the stop part 42 only when receiving the motor stop command from both of the position determination part 32 and the velocity determination part 38. The stop part 42 receives a command from the AND operation part 40 to issue the command to stop the servo motor 2 to a controller 5.
