Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect the double feed of a medium by reducing the occurrence of conveyance stop.SOLUTION: A double-feed detection device 100 includes: a torque limiter mechanism 60 as a torque suppression part for applying rotation suppression torque for suppressing the rotary motion of a lower roller 50 as a second conveyance roller with an upper limit value such that a braking force which is contrary to a driving force can be obtained at the lower roller 50 side as the second conveyance roller; a length detection sensor 27 as a medium length detection part for detecting the length of the conveyance direction of the medium; and a double feed determination part 91 for determining whether or not the medium in the conveyance path 20 is a double-feed medium on the basis of the length detected by the length detection sensor 27 as the medium length detection part.
