Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber unit capable of substantially securing discriminability of the optical fiber unit in intermediate post-branching work by suppressing protrusion of an optical fiber from binding members wound around a bundle of optical fibers.SOLUTION: The optical fiber unit includes: a plurality of optical fibers 11a; and a plurality of binding members 12a and 12b each of which has a core part and a coating part provided to cover the core part and having a melting point lower than that of the core part, and that bundle the plurality of optical fibers 11a so as to have mutual intersection parts, the mutual intersection parts being thermally fused. Tension when the plurality of binding members 12a and 12b are paid out is controlled such that a ratio of the length of the binding members 12a and 12b with respect to the length of the optical fiber 11a when the plurality of binding members 12a and 12b are paid out is regulated to not less than -0.10% and not more than 0.00%.
