Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a temperature adjustment device for an electric vehicle and a temperature adjustment method for the electric vehicle capable of preventing reduction in traveling possible distance.SOLUTION: An electric vehicle V includes: a motor generator 2, an in-vehicle battery 4 and an engine 10 for power generation. A cooling pipe path 11a passing the inside of the engine 10 forms a closed circuit and a coolant liquid flows therein. A seat branch 11c is branched from the cooling pipe path 11a and connected again to the cooling pipe path 11a, and a seat heater 16 for heating a seat 17 for the vehicle by the coolant liquid is provided on the seat branch 11c. Furthermore, a heat pump type air conditioner 22 is formed on an air conditioner pipe path 21b for ejecting exhaust gas from the engine 10. When the battery residual quantity SOC of the in-vehicle battery 4 becomes smaller than (or inclusive of) a charging threshold , air conditioning by generating heat or absorbing heat by consuming the power of the in-vehicle battery 4 is switched to air conditioning by the seat heater 16 or the heat pump type air conditioner 22.
