Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refrigeration cycle apparatus for achieving excellent branch characteristics under a wide usage condition without having an influence from an installation attitude of a refrigerant flow divider, dispersion in manufacturing, and so on.SOLUTION: A refrigeration cycle apparatus includes: a compressor to compress a refrigerant; a condenser to condense the refrigerant compressed by the compressor; an expansion valve 3 to decompress the refrigerant condensed by the condenser; a flow divider 4 constituted separately from the expansion valve 3 to branch the refrigerant decompressed by the expansion valve 3 into a plurality of flow passages formed inside; and an evaporator which evaporates the refrigerant branched by the flow divider 4. The expansion valve 3 and the flow divider 4 are disposed so that L/D<1.2Gand L/D>1.5 are satisfied. However, L [m] is a distance from the throttle area 300 of the expansion valve 3 to the branch area 400 of the divider 4, D [m] is the internal diameter of a second connection pipe 32 of the expansion valve 3, and G [kg/(ms)] is the mass velocity of the refrigerant flowing in the second connection pipe 32 of the expansion valve.
