Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink for an inkjet recording apparatus capable of suppressing defective discharge of the ink when an image is formed after the ink is not discharged from a recording head for a while, and capable of obtaining the image having desired image quality, and a method of forming the image by the inkjet recording apparatus.SOLUTION: An ink for an inkjet recording apparatus includes water, a pigment dispersion, a superpenetrant having a predetermined solubility parameter (SP value), and a high SP value organic solvent, and the SP value difference ( SP) of adjacent organic solvents adjoining each other when the high SP value organic solvents are arranged in order of the SP value is all 0.5-5.0, and the difference (SP-SP) between an SP value (SP) of the high SP value organic solvent having the highest SP value and an SP value (SP) of the superpenetrant having the lowest SP value is SP-SP≤12.
