Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary type compressor comprised of vanes having sufficient sliding resistance even in an application using a natural refrigerant such as carbon dioxide as the refrigerant.SOLUTION: A rotary type compressor has a compression element, and an electric-operation element forming a driving source of the compression element in a hermetic container. The rotary type compressor uses carbon dioxide as refrigerant. The compression element has vanes which are slidably brought into contact with a rolling piston eccentrically rotated in a cylinder, and reciprocally slides in a cylinder groove. The vanes have wear-resistant coating on a slidably-contact surface with at least the rolling piston. The shape of a slidably-contact part to be slidably brought into contact with the rolling piston is formed with an arc shape having the same cross section in the longitudinal direction, and the radius of the arc is 2 times or more as much as the thickness of the vanes.
