Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical transmission module which has a long life and which makes long distance communication possible.SOLUTION: An optical transmission module 1 includes a surface emitting laser 2 as a light emitting source, and a plastic optical fiber 6 as a communication medium. The plastic optical fiber 6 includes a core 11 made of a polymer of monomers containing trichloroethyl methacrylate of 70 wt.% or more as a main component, and a clad 12 made of a polymer of monomers containing methyl methacrylate of 20 wt.% or more as a main component. The surface emitting laser 2 has a wavelength of 660-700 nm or a wavelength of 760-790 nm.
